The brands Hero and the Honda are two prominent two-wheeler manufacturers in the world. The Indian two-wheeler market is completely dominated by these two firms. In the 100 cc segment, Hero Passion XPro and the Honda Dream Yuga are very popular bikes.

Hero Passion, launched in 2001, has two siblings – Passion Plus and Passion Pro. The Passion XPro is the latest Passion model launched in 2013. This bike is priced between Rupees 51,146 and 55,244 for different models. The Honda Dream Yuga launched in 2012 is a 110 cc bike priced between Rupees 49,155 to 52,842.

The combo console of the Passion has an analogue speedometer, a digital fuel gauge, two digital trip meters and a low fuel indicator. The Dream Yuga has an analogue speedometer, a digital fuel gauge and indicators for low fuel, low oil and low battery. Both have kick and self start options. The Passion has a 3 Ah battery, 35 watt halogen head lamps, 5W / 21W multi reflector tail and brake lamps and turn and pass signal lamps. The Dream Yuga has a 2.5 Ah battery with multi reflector head lamps LED tail and brake lamps as well as turn and pass signals.

The Passion XPro is powered by a 109 cc, 8.7 ps and 9.36 NM engine. The Yuga has a 109cc, 8.25 bhp and 8.63 NM engine. Both have carburetor type fuel and fully transistorised ignition systems. A 4 speed manual gear box, wet multi plate clutch and chain drive are common for the two bikes. The acceleration is better for the Hero bike which takes 7 sec from 0 to 60 kmph where as the Yuga takes 8.8 seconds. The fuel efficiency of 72 kmpl of the Yuga is better than the 60 kmpl of the Passion XPro.

The Passion has diamond tubular chassis with telescopic hydraulic suspension at the front and swing arm type with 5 step adjustable hydraulic shock absorbers at the rear. The tires of the passion are 80 / 100×18 "-47P at the front and 90 / 90×18" -51P at the back. It has 240 mm disc brake at the front and 130 mm drum or disc brakes at the rear. The Yuga has a diamond frame with telescopic suspension at the front and tube type both side operation suspensions at the rear. The tires are 80 / 100×18 "-47P and 51P for the Yuga.The Yuga has 130 mm drum type brakes at both ends. The 113 kg Passion has a better ground clearance of 170 mm than the 161 mm of the Yuga, which weighs 108 kg.

The brakes are better for the Passion XPro. A cargo net on the seat, a larger fuel tank and a better fuel efficiency are the points of the Honda Dream Yuga.
